From children’s adventures set on the coast of Maine to remarkable tales drawn from history, my goal has always been to create stories that entertain, inspire, and stay with readers long after the final page.
Here you’ll discover books for readers of all ages—stories that spark curiosity, celebrate courage, and bring memorable characters to life.
I invite you to explore them with me.

MABEL TAKES A SAIL
NOW AVAILABLE
as an ebook, paperback, or hardcover book
on Amazon and Ingramspark.
As in her previous adventure, Mabel Takes the Ferry, set in Islesboro, Maine, canine sailor Mabel is excited to be going on a sailing excursion with her family. This time, however, there is a slight hitch: the new puppy, Maxine, is coming too.
Mabel Takes a Sail is filled with sailing tips, including a glossary of nautical terms and gentle safety reminders that parents and children will appreciate. The magnificent illustrations by artist Dawn Peterson beautifully capture the charm and beauty of the Maine coast.
In addition to sailing tips and gentle safety reminders, Mabel Takes a Sail explores the importance of teamwork, friendship, and inclusion. As Mabel learns to share her sailing adventure with the energetic new puppy, Maxine, young readers discover valuable lessons about cooperation, patience, and welcoming others.
Through Mabel’s journey, children are encouraged to embrace new experiences, build meaningful friendships, and learn that adventures are often even more enjoyable when shared.
MABEL TAKES A PADDLE
After mastering ferries and sailing adventures, Mabel decides it is time to try something new—kayaking! Fortunately, her years of experience on the water help her become an excellent kayak dog.
Join Mabel as she explores the beautiful lakes of Maine and discovers the wildlife that calls them home. Along the way, readers will meet loons, turtles, and other fascinating creatures, just as Mabel did during her real-life adventures.
You’ll also meet Bert, the very, very, very talkative Indian Ringneck bird, whose colorful personality adds even more fun to the journey.
Available in ebook, paperback, and hardcover editions through Amazon and IngramSpark.

Every day, a new chapter
I truly believe that we are all walking, talking stories, and every day presents a new chapter to be written.
Beyond Mabel’s adventures, I have authored seven other titles, each inspired by true events. From the playful antics of animals and life along the Maine coast to the vastness of the sea, and even the remarkable experiences of my father as a courtroom guard at the Nuremberg Trials during World War II, my books offer diverse and heartfelt stories for readers of all ages.
CHARLIE GETS THE PAPER
In 2009, I took a break from writing. You see, I wanted a pony.
So I bought one.
She was a yearling, sweet as could be, and I thought she would be easy to live with. I loved her so much that I bought her sister and her mother too. They all needed homes.
They were Newfoundland Ponies, from the island of Newfoundland, far off the coast of Canada. The problem was that I really didn’t know what I had bought.
At the time, there were only about 300 Newfoundland Ponies left on the planet. The breed was dangerously close to extinction. As I learned more about them, I discovered that they desperately needed help. I also learned how different they were from other horses and ponies. They were calm, kind, intelligent, and incredibly sweet.
To make a long story short, I jumped in headfirst and became involved in helping save the breed.
About the same time, I took in a little rescue dog who had come from a place where he and several other puppies had not been properly cared for. He was very shy and seemed afraid of everything.
Well, that was until the veterinarian discovered he had an infection and treated it.
Afraid? Nope.
Shy? Not even close!
WOW, what a personality! What a character! He simply hadn’t been feeling well.
Charlie soon decided that he wanted to fetch the newspaper when it was delivered to the farm. Before long, he became curious about what was inside and decided he wanted to learn to read it.
The problem was that Charlie had difficulty fetching the newspaper, and learning to read it turned out to be even harder.
Fortunately, his pony friends at the sanctuary tried to help.
Charlie Gets the Paper is a fun and funny story featuring Charlie, Mabel, and the Newfoundland Ponies you’ll meet throughout the book. Along the way, readers will learn about this remarkable endangered breed and the animals who inspired the story.
